PRODUCTION - Processing/Batching, Dubai Investment Park
At the main facility in Dubai Investments Park, Jebel Ali, three (3) fully computerised state-of-the-art wet batching plants operate with a combined production capacity of 250 m³/hour.
The MEKA 60 MB batch plant has a 60 m3 rated capacity and has been installed primarily for supply of Special Products such as Mortars, Plasters, Screeds, Lightweight concrete, Shotcrete and Coloured Products.
The Al Kifah 120 is MBmix’s main wet batching plant capable of producing 120 m³/h. Six (6) aggregate compartments provide a combined capacity of 300 tonnes storage and 2 x 150 and 2 x 100 tonne cement silos provide a total cement storage capacity of 500 tonnes.
The Skako Couvert 90E wet batching plant is capable of producing 90 m³/hour and has four (4) aggregate compartments with a combined storage capacity of 120 tonnes, together with 2 x 150 and 1 x 75 tonne cement silo with a total cement capacity of 375 tonnes.
Aggregates for plants are loaded to the batching plants using wheeled loading shovels into ground hoppers, then transported to the feed hopper on a conveyor, which transfers the materials to the overhead aggregate bins.
Weigh hoppers for both cement and aggregate are suspended from electronic load cells to produce accurate weighing of constituent materials. Water and admixtures are also measured this way in the Skako plant. In the Al Kifah plant flow metres are used for dispensing these materials.
Constituent materials are mixed in the Al Kifah plant using a Sicoma 4m³ capacity twin-shaft mixer and in the Skako plant, using a 2m³ planetary, threemotor, counter-current mixer to maximise mixing efficiently.
The Al Kifah plant uses an Alkon Command computerised control batching system and the Skako similar controls. Both provide the operator with full control of all production aspects during batching. Both systems enable the following to be recorded and/or produced:
Electronic storage of mix designs.
Programming of specific mix designs to meet customer requirements.
Detailed batching records incl. material quantities used, time of batching and load out to vehicle.
Batch weight report printout for Customer cross-referencing that includes:
- Location/job site.
- Time and Date.
- Truck and driver numbers.
- Class of concrete.
- Cement type and quantity.
- Admixture type and dose.
- Aggregate maximum size.
- Weight of fine and coarse aggregates.
- Calculation of water / cement ratio.
- Moisture of sand and absorption.
A KTI chilled water plant and associated flaked ice plant serve both mixing plants to produce accurate temperature controlled concrete. Ice is stored in a custom-built 75 tonne capacity ice store fitted with an automatic rake system to avoid the need for manual handling. Chilled water is stored in purpose-built insulated water tanks.
Batched mixes are loaded into transit mixers and loads checked for workability before leaving the plant. Random loads are sampled and tested for workability and compressive strength.
